Keeping the Bastards Honest

It's with the greatest pride and satisfaction that we report the resolution of the long and drawn out struggle for what's right and fair.

Many of you will remember the 7 News article some weeks ago featuring Workers First and the Australian Prison Officers Association as we assisted Prison Officer Therese Grace who was diagnosed with terminal cancer and was attempting to access a Windsor income protection insurance policy promoted and endorsed by their partners United Voice Union.

After several weeks of advocacy from Workers First and the APOA on Therese's behalf, we are pleased to report that the matter has now been resolved and the benefits Therese was always entitled to have finally been settled.

This was a case where the advocacy of Workers First and the APOA was able to assist a Prison Officer and her family in genuine need when the Union had simply turned their back on her even though she had been a member, and even though it was their own partners holding back the much needed benefits she was entitled to.

Shame on you United Voice Union, this was the product you endorse and promote, it's the same product you tell people they MUST pay into.

One can't help but wonder why, but then again, let's just simply look at the United Voice Union membership card for a hint.
